Notes about Anna Maria Bedloo

Anna Maria (1801-1837) en echtgenoot Wilhelm Triebels (1799-1878), koopman en locoburgemeester van Nijmegen, woonden in de vroege negentiende eeuw in Huize Oraniënstein te Hees (Gl), Anna Maria komt uit een plantersfamilie. Aandelen van de Surinaamse plantages d’Alyda en Karelsburg circuleren al enkele generaties binnen de familie. Als de slavernij wordt afgeschaft in 1863 is Anna Maria al bijna dertig jaar overleden. Toch doet haar weduwnaar Wilhelm Triebels een beroep op de aandelen van de plantages en de bijbehorende compensatiegelden. Triebels verzoek wordt afgewezen: de aandelen gaan naar zijn schoonmoeder, Elizabeth Meijer-Bedloo (1797-1861).
