Ons bereikt zojuist het bericht dat Ton Slierendrecht is overleden, hij was al enige tijd ziek. Gedurende 31 jaar was Slierendrecht de levensgezel van Johnny Jordaan, stond hij de zanger bij in voor- en tegenspoed, en ook na diens overlijden in 1989 nam hij iedere gelegenheid te baat om het????imuzikale erfgoed van de beroemde Jordaanzanger onder de aandacht te brengen.
Hier beelden van Slierendrecht in 2005 tijdens de presentatie van de zeer succesvolle Johnny Jordaan-dvd, waarvoor hij als Johnny's wederhelft botweg niet was uitgenodigd.

[...] Hij woont nog steeds pal tegenover de Jordaan, in het huis aan het Frederik Hendrikplantsoen waar Johnny en Ton ooit kwamen te wonen. [...] Barry had en heeft helemaal niets met 'die muziek van Johnny'. Maar hij onderstreept de historische waarde van de man. [...] Jannetje 'Tottie' de Graaff, de vrouw met wie hij [Johnny Jordaan] in 1943 trouwde en dochter Willeke kreeg, woont nog altijd in Haarlem.'
