Notes about Gerrit Moll

Hij is vernoemd naar de grootvader van moeders zijde.
Er zijn drie sollicitanten voor onderwijzer in 1785 uitgenodigd om een proeve van bekwaamheid af te leggen t.o.v. drie meesters.
Nadat de proef was opgegeven Psalm 25, tot het lezen van enige versen in het N.T.; het spelden was niet nodig, want die goed kon lezen, kon ook goed spelden (!); het rekenen kon niet geschieden, omdat de boeren er niet over konden oordelen (!)
Door de meerderheid van stemmen werd Garrit Moll tot meester beroepen.
De vergadering is met het gebed geopend en met dankzegging gesloten door den predikant van de plaats.
Hummelo kon zich verblijden met hem wegens het goede opsicht, de naarstigheid en stichting in de gemeente, hetwelk hij tot dusver heeft betoond, zodat de jeugd van hier en elders samengevloed, het gehele jaar door, tot bewijs strekt, dat de school zeer is vergroot in de jare 1792 en noch in de winter (!) te klijn is.
