      Eindhoven, 13 oktober 2012. Velen van u kennen Pol van Oijen wel. Of omdat zij met hem gediend hebben of door hem zijn opgeleid of een boek van hem gekocht hebben op een van de vele herdenkingen. Op 8 oktober is hij na een kort ziekbed overleden

      Pol van Oijen werd op 7 november 1927 te Parijs geboren. Hier hield hij een levenslange liefde voor Frankrijk aan over. Na verhuist te zijn naar Nederland in 1942 maakte hij de bevrijding van Nederland mee. Hij trok Koningswapenrok aan en werd als OVW naar het voormalig Nederlans-Indië gestuurd en was aldaar betrokken bij de politionele acties. Hij haalde in Indië de groene baret en zijn para brevet en werd na terugkeer naar Nederland geplaatst bij de commando’s. De jonge Pol van Oijen begon aan een carrière bij de Krijgsmacht. Pelotons commandant, compagnies commandant, uitzending naar Korea en Nieuw-Guinea en diverse functies buiten het KCT zoals de Militaire Inlichtingen Dienst (MID). Hij zwaaide af als luitenent-kolonel der Infanterie.

      Na zijn functioneel leeftijdsontslag kwam de liefde voor het Franse leven weer boven drijven en maakte hij verschillende tochten naar het Franse. Hier heeft hij zijn tweede liefde gevonden. Een vriendin waarmee hij de laatste jaren van zijn leven doorbracht. Dochter Matilou sprak met dankbaarheid over deze late romance. Aanwezig waren afvaardigingen van diverse commandoverenigingen waaronder COV Gelderland. Ook was majoor Royakkers namens het KCT aanwezig.

      De commandogemeenschap verliest in Pol van Oijen een markante figuur, die opviel door zijn altijd twinkelende ogen en als een geboren verteller die vele boeken op zijn naam heeft staan.

      Wij wensen de kinderen en kleinkinderen heel veel stekte bij het dragen van dit verlies.
