      We had a younger sister, Joan, who was seven years younger than I. My mother became quite ill soon after Joan was born and my mother’s family took Joan because she was only a tiny baby. When my mother died after a long illness, her family adopted Joan and gave her the surname, Peacock. She became Joan Peacock but was our blood sister (for your genealogy).
