    Gustav Stutzer konnte dem Nervenarzt Dr. Franz Servaes den gut florierenden „Theresienhof“ verpachten, und beide Eheleute beschlossen, in ein Land zu gehen, in dem sie einerseits Ruhe aber andererseits auch eine Aufgabe fänden.

    Der Marienbader Weg wurde erstmals Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts im Straßenverzeichnis erwähnt, damals hieß der Weg noch Marienbader Promenade. Vorher waren die Anwohner postalisch unter der Astfelder Straße zu finden. Erst im Jahr 1925 erhielt er seinen heutigen Namen zu Ehren der Königin Marie von Hannover. Und dazu kam es folgendermaßen: Am Rande des Nordberges, am unteren Steinberg errichtete 1838 der Leinenweber Friedrich Rißling zunächst eine Naturbleiche. 1845 eröffnete seine Ehefrau eine Kaffeewirtschaft, die ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel der Goslarer Bevölkerung und der in der Grube am Nordberg arbeitenden Schieferarbeiter wurde. Um 1850 errichtete der bereits bekannte Kräuterdoktor Friedrich Lampe am Nordberg zusammen mit Rißling seine neue Kräuterkurheilanstalt. Diese erfreute sich immer größerer Beliebtheit auch weit über die Tore Goslars hinaus. Deshalb wagte es Lampe, Königin Marie von Hannover darum zu bitten, Namensgeberin für die Heilanstalt zu werden. Sie willigte ein und am Geburtstag Ihrer Majestät am 27.08.1854 wurde das Kurbad dann auch feierlich Marienbad getauft. Erst der Krieg 1870/71 setzte dem Kurbetrieb langsam ein Ende. 1887 gründete der Sanitätsrat Dr. Servaes hier ein Sanatorium für Nervenleidende. Dieses wurde 1899 von den Geschwistern Löhr übernommen.
