Johann Hermann Hüffer (* 25. Dezember 1784 in Münster (Westfalen); † 12. Januar 1855 ebenda) war ein deutscher Verleger und Politiker.

Leben
Hüffer war der Sohn der letzten Tochter Sophia von Wilhelm Aschendorff, dem Gründer des „Aschendorff Verlags“ (heute Unternehmensgruppe Aschendorff). Hüffer übernahm den Verlag in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts und war 1835 Mitbegründer des münsterschen Vereins der Kaufmannschaft. Im Jahre 1838 war es Johann Hermann Hüffer, der als Erster ein Buch von Annette von Droste-Hülshoff verlegte. Er gilt ebenfalls als der Begründer der Westfälischen Nachrichten durch die Gründung des Münsterschen Anzeigers, den Kern der Zeitung, im Jahre 1852. Er leitete das Unternehmen bis ins Jahr 1854, bevor er die Leitung an seinen Sohn Eduard übergab.

Neben seinem Beruf als Verleger war er zudem führender Politiker in der Provinz Westfalen in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Seit 1817 gehörte er der Stadtverordnetenversammlung von Münster an und wurde 1842 Oberbürgermeister der Stadt. Hüffer war seit 1826 Mitglied des westfälischen Provinziallandtages und war 1847/48 auch Mitglied des Vereinigten Landtages. Im Vormärz gehörte er mit seinen Selbstverwaltungsideen zur gemäßigten liberalen Opposition. Der Revolution von 1848 stand er jedoch ablehnend gegenüber. Die Tumulte zu Beginn der Revolution in Münster richteten sich auch gegen ihn. Nur widerwillig nahm er ein Mandat für die preußische Nationalversammlung an. Weil ihn Berlin förmlich krank machte, legte er bald sein Mandat nieder. Auch vom Amt des Oberbürgermeisters trat er 1848 zurück.

Der Sohn Alfred Hüffer war Abgeordneter und Mitbegründer der Zentrumspartei. Ein weiterer Sohn von Johann Hermann Hüffer war Franz Hüffer (1845–1889), ein bedeutender Musikkritiker, der in London als Francis Hueffer für die Times schrieb. Dessen Sohn, Johann Hermann Hüffers Enkel, war der englische Schriftsteller Ford Madox Ford.
