    Eduard Caspar Hubert Kühlwetter (1813 - 1897), kam aus einer katholischen Familie in Düsseldorf. Er studierte, wie einige seiner Verwandten, Jura in Bonn, Heidelberg und Berlin. In den 1830er Jahren durchlief er den juristischen Vorbereitungsdienst, heiratete 1844 Pauline Helene Windscheid aus Düsseldorf und wurde 1844 Specialdirector der Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn. Neben seinem erfolgreichen wirtschaftlichen Wirken war er politisch tätig und übte bis in die letzten Lebensjahre eine Reihe von Ehrenämtern aus.
