Notes about Sibbeltje Seekles

Tijdens een verblijf in Engeland raakte zij in verwachting. De vader, een bekende Engelse portretschilder, erkende het kind niet. Het kreeg een opvoeding op een kostschool. Zij nam haar zoon toen mee naar Nederland.
Sibbeltje Seekles vertrekt op 18 april 1885 vanuit Bolsward naar Amsterdam. Zij wordt op 12 maart 1896 in het bevolkingsregister van Amsterdam ingeschreven als komende van New York; drie maanden later, te weten op 2 juni 1896 wordt ze wederom uitgeschreven als gaande naar New York.
Sibbeltje komt samen met haar zoon met de Obdam aan in de Verenigde Staten van Amerika op 2 juni 1896. (passenger record Ellis Island)
Volgens het bevolkingregister van Leeuwarden vestigt Sibbeltje Seekles zich in Leeuwarden op 26 augustus 1901 vanuit New York. Zij vertrekt op 13 december 1901 naar Amsterdam. Tijdens haar verblijf in Leeuwarden woonde ze bij haar zuster Hendrika Seekles en haar man Klaas Reitsma. Haar broer Jan Willem Seekles, die ook bij zijn zuster heeft ingewoond, was al op 17 april 1900 naar Amsterdam vertrokken.
Sibbeltje was een rijke vrouw en strooide in het Vondelpark te Amsterdam met geld.
