In 1937 werden de ijsfabriek en de veenpolder bij Wolvega afgestoten.
Tijdens de WO-II kwam de brandstofvoorziening voor de centrale in gevaar, maar door bijdragen van de bewoners en zelfs Duitse soldaten kon de stroomlevering doorgaan.
In de kelder van de centrale lag een grote voorraad handgranaten,stenguns en pistolen van de ondergrondse waartoe Klaas behoorde.
Aan het eind van de oorlog werd hij door de Duitsers gearresteerd, wegens hulp aan Franse krijgsgevangenen en onderduikers, en afgevoerd naar het Duitse concentratiekamp "Neuengamme"waar hij overleed.
De centrale werd in 1946 overgenomen door de IJsselcentrale.
