    John Larkins, 81, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at home.
    He was born Friday, April 20, 1934, in Oquawka, the son of William G. and Pearl L. (Easton) Larkins. He married Colleen J. Sage on June 11, 1954, in Monmouth.
    He is survived by two sons, Dale (Pam) Larkins and Tim (Becky) Larkins, both of Galesburg; four daughters, Joyce (Tom) Helms and Janet Pierce, both of Galesburg, Judi (Don) Jarvis of Rock Island, and Julie Baldwin of Athens, Ohio. He had 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He also had one brother-in-law, Forrest Crist of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Betty Larkins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and five sisters.
    John attended schools in Rosetta, Monmouth, East Galesburg, and Galesburg and graduated from Auctioneering School in Mason City. He worked at Union Carbide and McKeesport Hospital, Pennsylvania, and retired from Admiral-Maytag in 1996 after over 40 years of work. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family always came first.
    Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Wise Family - Hoover Hall Funeral Home in Monmouth. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Biggsville Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the St. Jude's of Peoria and Shriners Crippled Children. Online condolences may be made at www.wisefamily-hooverhall.com. Wise Family - Hoover Hall Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of arrangements.
