Notes about David Sydney "Dave" Powell

Building Contractor. Owned a business called "Stoke Construction"

David served in the Royal Engineers, and was posted in German (Hamel?) just after the war, for about 21 months, building and blowing up bridges.

David brought a pocket watch back from Germany for Bep. This he carried in the heel of his army boot, which had been hollowed out by a cobbler!

On the train from Grankfurt to the Hoek van Holland, when they arrived at the station, it was announced that David Powell had to report to the Military Police! He was so scared, but on arrival at the MP office, Bep was there waiting for him! She had asked the MP to get him off the train as they were going to get engaged!
