Notes about Christiaan Schreijer

De stamvader van de familie, Christiaan Schreijer, is afkomstig van het Hertogdom Gulik, vermoedelijk als geboorteplaats: Weerhofen(?). Als soldaat in het leger van de Prins van Oranje huwde hij in Axel met Berendina Jans de Roo uit Ledegem in Vlaanderen.

Christiaan Schreijer ging na beeindiging van de 80j. oorlog naar Sittard, toen nog Duits gebied. In 1650 ging hij het "nieuwe land" Noord Beveland verkennen; in 1651 vestigde het gezin -inmiddels met twee kinderen- zich in Colijnsplaat.
