Koning van Engeland en Schotland van 1685 tot 1688. De laatste katholieke koning van Engeland en Schotland. Verslagen door zijn schoonzooon Willem III van Oranje op 1 juli 1690 en vluchtte naat Frankrijk. In 1689 door het Engelse parlement afgezet als koning. Had minstens 20 kinderen bij diverse vrouwen.
