    TERAARDEBESTELLING MEVR
    L.C. NICOLAAS-NIEUWENBURG

    Zaterdag vond op de begraafplaats
    Rhijnhof de teraardebestelling plaats
    van het stoffelijk overschot van onze
    stadsgenote mevr. L.C. Nicolaas-Nieu-
    wenburg, die in de bezettingsjaren een
    belangrijke plaats in het verzet heeft
    ingenomen.
    De voormalig leider der Ned. Verzets-
    organisatie Strijdend Nederland. De
    heer A.M.G. Bernhard uit Utrecht, die
    het woord vooerde, noemde haar de
    moeder der Leidse onderduikers, die
    ongeacht hun geloof of overtuiging, dag
    en nacht klaar stond om te helpen. Dit
    alles deed zij omdat zij niet anders kon.
    Terwijl haar zoon in 1 van de be-
    ruchte Duitse concentratiekampen zat,
    werden er in haar woning, aldus spre-
    ker, bonkaarten gedistribueerd. Aus-
    weise gestempeld en getekend, illegale
    blaadjes gestencild en onderduikers ver-
    borgen. Met haar aldus eindigde de
    heer Bernhard, is 1 van de naam-
    lozen in de strijd tegen de bezettende
    macht heengegaan.
