    Archichapelain van de kapel van Bourgondië en grootkapelaan van Philippe IV, koning van Spanje in 1663 benoemd door dezelfde koningsbisschop van Doornik op 2 juli 1667, maar omdat de koning van Frankrijk die stad in hetzelfde jaar had ingenomen, gaf hij er de voorkeur aan deze post te verlaten dan zich eraan te onderwerpen monarch en doet afstand van de mijter in plaats van zijn loyaliteit aan zijn prins, werd hij op 3 januari 1671 aartsbisschop van Mechelen, op 21 februari 1673 staatslid, stierf op 7 juni 1689 en werd begraven in Sint Rombaut.
