    Zij was een zus van de "Lange van Luik" en woonde bovenaan de Potterstraat.
    Dikke Agnes werkte in de keuken bij de militairen in het Markiezenhof.
    Het verhaal gaat, dat ze op een zondag naar haar werk ging om 'errepels te schelle'.
    Ze kleppert aan de poort van het Markiezenhof. Deze poot heeft een klinket (een kleine deur), waardoor men aar binnen of naar buiten kan, zoder dat d grote poort helemaal open moet. De portiersoldaat doet het klinket open, monstert Agnes met zijn blik en sluit meteen het poortje weer. Er klinkt een geluid van schuivende ijzers en even later zwaait de groe poort, wagenwijd open en kon Agnes naar binnen.
    Het is duidelijk waar haar bijnaam vandaan komt.
