In de trouwboeken van het gerecht van Culemborg staat vermeld dat Gerrit Jansz Schepen op 02-04-1657 is getrouwd.
Alhoewel er nog geen aansluiting met de stamboom is gevonden is het wel heel waarschijnlijk dat hij hiertoe behoort.
De stamboom van de familie Schepen begint namelijk met leden die zich vanuit Kuilenburgh (Culemborg) in Maassluis vestigen. Om deze reden is Gerrit Jansz toch in deze stamboom opgenomen en gezien het patroniem 'Jansz' moet hij de zoon van ene Jan Schepen zijn geweest.
