"Een reiziger in glaswerk kreeg Donderdagmiddag op het Stationsplein twist met de pakjesdrager A. Ruijfrok, over verschuldigd loon. Deze weigerde aanvankelijk de koffers af te geven, waarop de politie er zich mee bemoeien moest. De pakjesdrager smakte daarop de koffers van zijn wagen op den grond, zoodat de monsters gedeeltelijk werden vernield.
Kort daarna lag de pakjesdrager, die beschonken was, met kamaraden aan de Molenstraat te vechten, waarop hij door de politie werd ingerekend. De chef van de politiewacht aan het Stationsplein – zoo schrijft men ons – heeft geregeld de handen vol om onder de pakjesdragers orde te bewaren en het publiek voor hunne brutaliteiten te beveiligen."
