Noble-homme Pierre Caufepé Escaynet et Maiorau de Eymet en Gascogne. 15 oktobet 1534 kreeg Pierre zijn naturalisatie "par lettres patentes du roi Francois I".
Het geslacht de Chaufepié stamt uit Italie, voerde daar de naam Calfopedi. Het oudste gegeven is van Alain Calfopedi, Maréchal de Camp in Florence di op 5 augustus 1379 trouwde met Petronilla Monfredi. Hun nazaat Pierre vestigde zich in Gascogne in Zuid Frankrijk en daar werd de naam verfranst tot de Chaufepie. De Calfopedi's behoorden in Italie tot de adellijke geslachten.
