Overlijdensgevallen werden gewoonlijk vastgelegd in de gemeenten waar het overlijden plaatsvond, zelfs als de overledene geen inwoner was. In dat geval werd een kopie van het overlijdensrecord gewoonlijk verzonden naar de woonplaats van de overledene.
