Mijn vader Wim van Leeuwen is geboren in Stompwijk(Leidschendam) op 25-06-1915, en overleden op 10-4-1984 te Voerendaal.Zijn moeder stierf toen hij 6 jaar was, zijn vader toen hij 10 jaar was. Hij had geen broers of zussen, net als ik. Zes weken later werd hij overgebracht naar het jongensweeshuis "De Heibloem"in Heythuizen-Roggel, Limburg. In die tijd, 1926 een wereldreis. Daar verbleef hij tot 1934. Hij ging wonen en werken in Weert , later in Eindhoven.Daar ontmoette hij mijn moeder.In 1951 ben ik geboren, en in 1963 zijn we verhuisd naar Voerendaal, een dorp vlak bij Heerlen,Limburg.Samen met mijn moeder en mij heeft hij een gelukkig leven gehad,hij was voor mij een hele lieve pappa.Hij droeg mij op handen, ik was zijn oogappel.
Het verhaal van zijn familie heeft krassen op zij ziel nagelaten, hij sprak er nooit over, het deed teveel pijn. De pijn zat vooral in het feit dat niemand van de familie zich over hem ontfermd heeft na de dood van zijn ouders. Binnen 6 weken na het overlijden van zijn vader zat hij al in het weeshuis, gerund door paters; dat krijg je in deze tijd niet meer klaar!
Vorig jaar ben ik met een stamboomonderzoek begonnen van zijn familie. Ik wist hier totaal niets van. Ik mailde naar het archief van de gemeente Leidschendam-Voorburg. De archiefmedewerker aldaar herkende mijn verhaal. Wat wil het toeval, soms bestaat dat echt, deze archiefmedewerker is mijn achterneef. Zijn opa en mijn oma Bergman waren broer en zus, zijn moeder en mijn vader nicht en neef.Hij heeft nog een erfstuk van mijn vader, dat hij maakt voor de opa van mijn achterneef , in zijn bezit.Deze neef, Aad Zandbergen, heeft werkelijk van alles voor mij gedaan, aktes enz. Alles gratis. Mijn opa Theodorus van Leeuwen kwam uit een gezin van 12 kinderen, mijn oma Agatha Bergman, kwam uit een gezin met 7 kinderen.Niemand die mijn vader wilde, na het overlijden van zijn vader. Dat is heel wrang. Natuurlijk waren dat andere tijden met veel armoede, maar toch. Je ziet dat ik heel veel gegevens gewoon in de schoot geworpen kreeg,zelf heb ik de voogdijpapieren van mijn vader boven water gekregen en op het internet vond ik ook het een en ander. Zijn bidprentje en foto zitten in de bijlage. Het gedicht op zijn bidprentje had hij zelf uitgekozen.
