Notes about Gerrit Claasz. Appelman

Hij voert de familienaam van zijn moeder. Gerrit verloor zijn vader al na anderhalf jaar. Na
het overlijden van zijn stiefvader in 1727 was hij 20 jaar oud en beheerde de boerderij op de
Oosterzwaagdijk, welke in bezit was van de familie Backer. Dit blijkt uit de boedelscheiding
op 8-3-1734 voor notaris Pieter van der Deure te Grootebroek. Daarin staat dat Jan Backer
en Gerrit zijn moeder in 1714 op huwelijkse voorwaarden waren getrouwd. Uit de verdeling
blijkt dat Gerrit ruim 2 morgen land toebedeeld kreeg en zijn 8 jaar jongere stiefbroer Jacob
Jansz. Backer het huis en erf met ruim 20 morgen land alsmede de gehele inboedel.
Van zijn schoonouders, Gerrit Volkers en Aagt Jans Admiraal, erft Gerrit in maart 1733 de
boerderij met land in het Westeinde van Hoogkarspel en betrekt deze ook. De
boedelscheiding voor eerder genoemde notaris Pieter van der Deure vindt plaats op
31-3-1733 waarbij naast Gerrit als gehuwd zijnde met Anne Gerrits zijn minderjarige
schoonzus Marijtje Gerrits erfgename is.
Laatstgenoemde krijgt de hofstede benoorden de Oudijk en 6 stukken land. Anne erft een
huis en erf "staande int Westeynde van Hoogkarspel aan de noordzijde van de straat" en
5 stukken land.
Anne Gerrits is bij de geboorte van een tweeling overleden op 8-1-1734. Twee maanden later
ontvangt Gerrit zijn erfdeel uit de boedelscheiding van zijn moeder, bestaande uit 3 stukken
land en ƒ 455,-,- contant, de rest ging naar zijn halfbroer Jacob Backer.
Op 27-2-1736 laat Gerrit voor notaris Pieter van der Deure de erfdelen van zijn moederszijde
van zijn twee kinderen Grietje en Antje vastleggen in verband met zijn tweede huwelijk.
Na het overlijden van zijn tweede vrouw verkoopt Gerrit diverse stukken land. In het 40e
penning-boek van Grootebroek zijn verkopen te vinden in 1758, in 1759 aan zijn neef Jan
Jacobsz. Fijn, op 9-4-1762 en op 18-6-1765.
