Jan Hendrik Dikkers, schout van Vriezenveen, was een aktief aanhanger van de Oranjepartij, die zelfs bij verschillende gelegenheden op de vuist ging met zijn politieke tegenstanders.

Toen de omwenteling in 1795 een feit was, werd Jan Hendrik Dikkers als schout afgezet.

Zijn loopbaan was nog niet ten einde, want in 1803 werd hij door het Departementaal Bestuur aangesteld tot schout van Vriezenveen, hetgeen hij tot zijn dood in 1811 is gebleven.

Jan Hendrik Dikkers is tweemaal gehuwd geweest. Uit zijn tweede huwelijk met Fenneke Mollink, werd in 1782 zijn enige zoon Gerhardus geboren.
