Halfweg de 19de eeuw kende Vlaanderen grotearmoede en vele gezinnen trokken in die jarennaar Frankrijk, op zoek naar een beter bestaan.Zo  ook  Alardus  De  Wilde  (1831-1899),  degrootvader  van  Fiel,  die  zich  in  1857  met  zijnechtgenote Maria Theresia De Meirleir in Rou-baix vestigde. In 1870 barstte de oorlog los tus-sen  Frankrijk  en  Duitsland  om  het  gebied  El-zas-Lotharingen.    Als  gevolg  daarvan  keerdenheel  wat  Vlaamse  gastarbeiders  naar  Vlaande-ren weer, zo ook Alardus.  En als men hem danin  Temse  vroeg,  waarom  hij  was  weergekeerd,antwoordde hij: la guerre (de oorlog)....  Alardus, die vóór zijn vertrek naar Frankrijk fa-briekswerker  was,  werd  bij  zijn  terugkeer  vis-leurder,  meteen  de  stamvader  van  drie  genera-ties vishandelaars
