Hij getuigt op 9-4 1619 als Laurentius Swinnen bij de doop van Anna Krup in Wijlre. Bij zijn dochter Amalia ook diverse getuigen uit de familie Krup. Naar het lijkt behoorde zijn echtgenote tot deze familie.

Michael, filius Laurentii Bettonville in Loen sub Lixhe, et Catharina Cronenborch de Gulpen.

Hij woonde op de hof "op het Gasthuis" te Wijlre-Scheulder. Baltus Huprechts was zijn schoonzoon. Zijn dochter Amalia wordt zowel "Van Kan" als "Bettonville" genoemd, een belangrijke hint omdat in Maastricht sprake is van ene Gerard Bettonville die tevens Gerard Swennen wordt genoemd! In het Belgische Kanne onder Maastricht komt ene Johan Swennen voor met zijn verm. kinderen Arnold en Maria Swennen. "Van Kan" is vermoedelijk een patroniem van "Bettonville" = "Swennen", en het betreft een tak van deze familie die uit Kanne afkomstig is! Laurentius, wiens oudste zoon Joannes gedoopt werd, lijkt een zoon van Joannes van Kan uit Kanne, wiens kinderen zich allemaal "Swinnen" noemden. Deze Joannes senior had ook een broer Laurentius die in Maastricht woonde,
