Broers verwennen de jongste
Mevrouw Bril werd geboren in duits Wielen, waar ze opgroeide met twee zussen en zes broers. ‘Als jongste kind werd ik met name flink verwend door mijn broers,’ lacht de eeuweling. Toen ze 12 jaar was werd er verhuisd omdat vader een grotere boerderij kocht met meer grond.

Als tiener ging ze voor het eerst buitenshuis aan de slag. Haar eerste werkgever was bakker Runhaar in Radewijk. Ook werkte ze toen in de huishouding boer Willems in ’t Holt.

Het huwelijk tussen Johanna Lennips en Derk Bril werd voltrokken toen Johanna 23 jaar was. Het jonge paar ging wonen in de buurtschap Engeland. Het huwelijk werd gezegend met acht kinderen. Inmiddels is de familie uitgebreid met achttien kleinkinderen en 37 achterkleinkinderen, waar de jarige enorm blij mee is. Ze bewijst het onder meer met een familiefoto, die ze vol trots toont tijdens de verjaardagsvisite.

Mevrouw Bril geniet ondanks haar hoge leeftijd nog een aardig goede gezondheid. Haar gehoor laat haar soms wat in de steek, maar verder heeft ze naar eigen zeggen nog niet zoveel te klagen. Mede dankzij de zorg van haar kinderen woont ze nog zelfstandig, waar ze heel erg dankbaar voor is. Gramsbergen
Burgemeester feliciteert eeuweling
Gramsbergen – Johanna Bril geboren Lennips uit Gramsbergen, die op woensdag 12 juli 100 jaar is geworden, deed haar verjaardag dinsdag nog eens dunnetjes over toen burgemeester Peter Snijders haar kwam feliciteren.

Tijdens een geanimeerd gesprek werd de eeuweling gevraagd wat het geheim van oud worden is. Het antwoord maakte ze zichtbaar met een veelzeggend, resoluut gebaar richting de hemel.
