Truitje Lodewijks had als bijnaam 'Ouwe Poppe Trui', ook wel 'opoe
vissie'. Truitje was bovendien geldschietster. Ze kon lezen noch
schrijven, maar wist precies hoeveel geld iemand haar schuldig was. Dat
tekende ze met streepjes aan op het plafond. In de Jordaan werd veel
gebruik gemaakt van dit soort 'leenvrouwen', omdat men dan niet met z'n
spulletjes naar de lommerd hoefde te gaan. De rente was over het
algemeen best hoog. Leende je een gulden, dan betaalde je fl. 1,10 terug
(al was het de volgende dag). Tien procent rente was gebruikelijk.
