Antoon, belastingambtenaar, vertrok op 29-03-1941 uit Beverwijk naar Baarn. Bij zijn ondertrouw circa 14-05-1942 woonde hij Manegelaan 5 Hoofddorp. Na het huwelijk zocht het jonge echtpaar op 15-07-1942 woonruimte in Heemstede. Dat is gelukt gezien de advertentie in de Haarlemsche Courant van 08-03-1943 waarbij als adres Clivialaan 11 te Heemstede wordt opgegeven.

Op de website van Jack Kooistra treft u uitgebreide informatie aan. Onder meer: Antoon was lid van het verzet. Wegens verspreiding van illegale bladen, de overval op een distributiekantoor in Amersfoort en verboden wapenbezit is hij op 4 juli 1944 gearresteerd. Hofland werd overgebracht naar het huis van bewaring aan de Weteringschans in Amsterdam en reeds de volgende dag, 5 september 1944 overgebracht naar het concentratiekamp Amersfoort waar hij ingeschreven werd onder nummer 6854.

Zijn naam staat op een plaquette van het Vrijheidsbeeld in Heemstede.

In de Amersfoortse wijk Rustenburg is een straat naar hem vernoemd.
