    Nach Abschluss der Gymnasialbilduug auf dem Friedrichskollegium wurde er 1833 bei der Universität Königsberg eingeschrieben, um Theologie und Philosophie zu studieren. 1836 wurde er zum Doktor0 der Philosophie ernannt. Nach Beendigung der
    Universitätsstudien machte er noch einen zweijährigen Kursus am Seminar zu Wittenberg durch und wurde dann Lehrer an der Löbenichtschen Realschule zu Königsberg. Schon nach einem Jahre wurde er Divisionsprediger zu Danzig. 1851 nahm er die Pfarrstelle in Kaymen an, in welcher er die Ernennung zum Lizentiaten der Theologie erhielt. Im Jahre 1869 wurde er zum Pfarramte an der Löbenichtschen Kirche zu Königsberg berufen. 1880 wurde er zum Konsistorialrat mit Sitz und Stimme im Königlichen Konsistorium ernannt und 1884 ehrte ihn die Universität mit der Ernennung zum Doktor der .Theologie
