    Ad Kousbroek, vader van Ad en Piet Kousbroek en man van Maria Kousbroek van Beest was betrokken bij de oprichting van het verzet in Utrecht en vervulde een belangrijke rol.
    Hij was Adjudant onderofficier van de K.L. afdeling administratie. In 1940 begon hij met het organiseren van het verzet in de Rivierenwijk te Utrecht en in Hoograven. In eerste instantie zou hij een verzetsgroep begonnen zijn met van Dam (later de groep van Dam/Bitter) welke een uitgebreid netwerk had in Friesland.
