      At 19 May 1623, Dierick van Rockourt sells a piece of land to Jan Schipmans. Since 1633, Dierick van Roucourt was concierge of the townhall of Halen (Source: Gichtregister van de Schepenbank van Halen, RA Hasselt)
      Dirk (Dierick) van Roucourt (alias van Rockourt, van Rookou) is mentioned in a publication of P.J. Maas at page 38 (1877 Halen). In 1637 he was a tax receiver at "Halen's Broek". The taxes were used to improve the dykes of the river Demer. According to the booklet, soldiers of Prince of Orange stationed at Maastricht shot Dirk in the night of 10 July 1637, stole the taxes and burnt his house. Most likely he orginates from Hasselt and his father Theodorus van Rocourt died in 1583 when he was three years old.

    De taksen die dienden voor de versteviging van de dijken van de demer werden bij hem gestolen.
