Hij kocht een autobus van het merk Spijker-Saurer, gebouwd bij Trompenburg in Amsterdam. De bus woog 4.300 kg, had een 30 pk motor en kon een snelheid van 22 tot 25 km per uur halen.Er was plaats voor 20 personen binnen in de bus en 12 buiten, boven op de imperiaal. De eerste proefrit werd gehouden op 25 maart 1915; er werd in 55 minuten naar Leiden gereden, een afstand waar voordien met de boot - en dat was de enige reismogelijkheid - 2 1/2 uur over werd gedaan. Er werd driemaal daags een dienst gereden Boskoop-Leiden-Alphen-Bodegraven-Gouda-Boskoop en omgekeerd. Het was de eerste autobusin deze omgeving en de derde in geheel Nederland. In de laatste jaren van de eerste wereldoorlog was benzinegebrek er de oorzaak van dat er niet gereden kon worden, maar op 14 juli 1919 werd de dienst hervat. Op 9 oktober 1920 stopte de eigenaar met deze autobusdienst en verkocht de bus naar Friesland.
