    De grootouders van een vriendin, Frederik Oving en Annechien Oldenbeuving woonden in de oorlog (en daarna) aan de Vriezenveenseweg 156 in Almelo.
    In maart of april 1944 kwamen bij hen wonen Rafael van Zuiden en zijn vrouw Billeken Themans. Zij kwamen uit Naarden waar hij banketbakker was.
    Vanwege hun gevorderde leeftijd werden ze Opa en Oma genoemd.
    Helaas overleed Opa op 10 januari 1945 op 81-jarige leeftijd. Wat de oorzaak van zijn dood was weten we niet.
    Natuurlijk kon hij niet gewoon op de joodse begraafplaats aan de .. begraven worden. Midden in de nacht is de hele familie dus bezig geweest om op het plaatsje achter het huis een graf te graven. Dat moet een spannende onderneming geweest zijn want de buren mochten daar natuurlijk niets van merken.
    Opa is waarschijnlijk na de bevrijding herbegraven op een joods kerkhof. Mijn vriendin gaat kijken of hij op de Almelose begraafplaats ligt.
    Wat er met Oma gebeurd is weet ik [nog] niet.
    Ze hadden vijf kinderen waarvan de oudste in 1944 in Auschwitz omgekomen is.
