Toen Cor Commandeur trouwde, was hij samen met zijn broer melkboer te Blokker. Hij ging langs de deur met een hondekar. Korte tijd na zij huwelijk heeft hij tijdelijk in het huisje achter Louter in 't Zand gewoond. Daar werd zijn zoon Piet geboren. Al gauw vestigde hij zich als bakker (zijn eigenlijke beroep) in de Burgerbrug, waar de volgende 4 kinderen zijn geboren. Omdat hij zijn mening niet onder stoelen of banken stak, verloor hij tijdens de zogenaamde schoolstrijd de ene na de andere klant. Hij verhuisde naar Hoogwoud. Vanwege zijn betrokkenheid bij het verzet in de 2de wereldoorlog, werd hij 13 dagen voor de bevrijding, op 23 april 1945, gefusilleerd.
