Notes about Vukan van Raska

Vukan werd door Konstantin Bodin, de koning van Dioclitië, tot župan van Raška aangesteld. Na het overlijden van Konstantin Bodin verlplaatste het zwaartepunt van het vroegere Servië zich landinwaarts, naar Raška. Vukan werd een zeer betekenisvolle vorst van Servië. Hij voerde oorlogen tegen Byzantium en had een grote invloed op het koninkrijk Dioclitië. Rond 1114 werd hij echter verslagen door Byzantium, en volgde zijn zoon Uroš hem op als župan van Raška in 1118. Vukan werd door keizer Alexius gedwongen de Byzantijnse onderhorigheid te aanvaarden, en als deel van de overeenkomst moest hij twintig gijzelaars overhandigen.
