I saw your family tree and was very interesting in Gerrit Schaij.
My ancestor Madlena Gerrits Schaij was married in Groningen twice: in 1600 to Hans Smaltes and in 1604 to Jurich Kemmerer. The latest ist the marriage that my lineage came from.
Just yesterday I had found the earlier marriage in 1600 which included her patronymic name Gerrits (the second did not, although I think I can read something about her being accompanied by her mother - which is unusual - Neeltje? Gerrits Schaij, that's why I put the dots together.
As her father's name should be Gerrit Schaij I kept looking for that and found the entry of a captain Gerrit Schaij in the Nationaal Archief for the year 1595. As Jurich was also a lieutnant and many descendants were in the military I thought that was very plausibel.
Now I look at your family tree and see Gerrit Schaij born about 1563 which a whole bunch of ancestors listed. You also mention the different name spellings like Schade which kind of looks very German to me. You place them around the region of Utrecht as I understood. So I was wondering if your and mine Gerrit Schaij could be the same person and how likely that would be.

Beste Ina

Ik heb slechts beperkte informatie over zijn vader en broers.
Dat zijn vader rond Soest (Utrecht) moet worden gesitueerd is zeker, gezien het land dat hij daar in eigendom had.
Mijn Gerrit lijkt vernoemd naar zijn moeder Gerritgen. Verder heb ik geen personen uit die tijd met de naam Gerrit Schaij.
Door de patroniem naam zouden we dus voorzichtig als mogelijkheid kunnen aannemen dat het dezelfde personen zijn.Misschien zelfs waarschijnlijk.

Als hij iets anders is gaan doen dan zijn vader, bijvoorbeeld in dienst is gegaan, en elders in Nederland terecht is gekomen, bijvoorbeeld Groningen, dan zou het dezelfde Gerrit zijn. 
Als dochter Madlena in Groningen is getrouwd, dan is het gezin van Gerrit voor die tijd naar Groningen verhuisd.Laten we het houden op "waarschijnlijk".
