Pover Weesp verzorgt voor Jaap een feest als hij op 17 mei 2008 met de VUT gaat. In de uitnodiging lezen we:
Jaap is bij ons begonnen in 1991 en heeft menig kozijn, schuifpui en serre dak door zijn handen gekregen. Jaap begon op 13 jarige leeftijd bij Gebrema, waarna hij op zijn 17de jaar zelfstandige werd als melkboer. Toen Jaap 30 jaar was (en de halfvolle melk uit de octrooi ging) zorgde Jaap dat hij er bij kwam, bij de marine!! Zijn droom als straaljagerpiloot kwam niet uit, maar hij kwam wel bij de luchtmacht. Vervolgens wilde hij ook nog deelnemen aan het verfraaien van Nederland en kwam zodoende uit bij de gevelrenovatie.
