30 juni 1662, verklaring; de comparanten Cornelis Floris, van Graft, 33 jaar, timmerman; Douwe Olpherts,
van Koudum, 22 jaar, hoogbootsman; Imme Jans, van Koudum, 44 jaar, kok; en Stoffel Jans, 36 jaar,
bootsgezel; opvarenden van het schip 'de Hopkoper' van Rincke Douwes van Koudum, verklaren op verzoek
van genoemde schipper dat zij op 17 november van het vorige jaar met het genoemde schip ong. 6 mijl
benoorden Bergen, met 5 touwen aan de eilanden vast lagen, bij een "extraorinaire harde storm" uit het
zuidwesten. 's Nachts kwam van de andere kant van het eiland het schip 'de Gecroonde Jager' van Tjaard
Formers aandrijven, "welck schip tegen de klippen int korte aen duysent stucken geraeckte." Ze wisten
diverse goederen te bergen als een partij talk, een pak gemaakte klederen, een klein pakje met zijden
stoffen, een ton met rode barber, een ton met beverwol en een kas kaarsen. Daarnaast namen ze alle
opvarenden van het schip aan boord. Met zes man in een boot waren ze naar het wrak gevaren om touwen
en riemen van boord te halen en indien mogelijk een vaatje geld te bergen. "Met groot pericul van hun
leven, met touwen om de middel 't selve geld hebben geborgen, sijnde in een mat gepackt, 'twelck stont op
een kleyn hoeckje van 'twrack, van't achterschip." Als zij daar niet gelegen hadden met hun schip zou geen stuiver van het wrak geborgen zijn. SAA 5075 nr. 2883 / 427.
