overgenomen van NNBW:
verhuisde in 1646 naar Zweden om de belangen der familie daar te behartigen en vestigde zich te Norrköping. Na de regeling in 1653 keerde hij naar zijn vaderland terug en zette zich eerst neder te Beverwijk, waar hij goederen bezat. Daarna, waarschijnlijk omstreeks 1664, ging hij metterwoon naar Wildervank, waar hij een heerlijkheid had, genaamd Trip. Hij was daar groot-grondbezitter en betrokken bij belangrijke ondernemingen, o.a. bij die van Adriaen Geerts Wildervanck, den hoofdaanlegger van de groote Muntendammer compagnie, waardoor de tegenwoordige burgerlijke gemeenten Wildervank en Veendam ontstonden. Bovendien was hij deelhebber in een compagnie met zijn nabestaanden ter exploitatie van veenen, welke onderneming stellig den naam Trips Compagnie heeft gedragen, die thans is ingedeeld bij de burgerlijke gemeenten Sappemeer, Muntendam en Veendam.
