Volgens Bert Arendonk geboren in 1693 als onecht kind van Maria Gossens van Vollenhoven. 

De ouders van Markus Brum / Bron zijn wat de vader betreft verzonnen. Er is een verwijzing op familySearch maar die levert geen onderbouwing op. Je kunt in Beesd de doop van Markus vinden en constateren dat er gewoon geen vader was. Ik heb alle kerkeraadsvergaderingen / notities doorgespit en kwam Maria eenmaal tegen bij een belijdenis met een verwijzing naar Vianen. Markus is vanaf zijn geboorte in Beesd op 27-12-1693 tot aan zijn OT op  28-5-1718 te Beesd in de kerkboeken onvindbaar (Onecht kind?) Het zoeken blijft interessant omdat Markus Broen / Bron zijn oudste zoon, geboren 6-10-1719, Goosen Lambertse noemde. 

e Markus daarmee te zeggen? En, waarom noemde Maria haar zoon Markus? Deze naam kwam in geheel Beesd niet voor. De vernoemingsregels leveren ook niets op, ook geen verwijzing naar de vader van haar moeder Grietje Krijnen.
