      Mr. A. Korver jubileert
      Op 2 nov. j.l., was het 25 jaar geleden dat onze plaatsgenoot de heer mr. A. Korver aan de universiteit te Utrecht tot doctor in de rechtswetenschappen promoveerde.
      Na zich oorspronkelijk te Utrecht bekwaamd te hebben in de advocatenpraktijk, heeft hij zich toegelegd op het bankwezen en werd al spoedig benoemd tot directeur van het kantoor Woerden van de Nationale Bankvereeniging en in 1919 als zoodanig verplaatst naar het zooveel grootere kantoor te Alphen a.d. Rijn. Toen enkele jaren daarna de alles neerhalende crisis zich in al zijn gestrengheid deed gevoelen, achtte de heer Korver den tijd gekomen zich los te maken van het bankwezen en zijn reeds omvangrijke advocatenpraktijk verder uit te breiden.
      Intusschen heeft de heer Korver groote waardeering gevonden op maatschappelijk gebied. Reeds sedert tal van jaren is hij bestuurslid van het hier gevestigde Nutsdepartement en commissaris van de Nutsspaarbank en bij het overlijden van den vorigen functionaris, werd hij benoemd tot secretaris van de laatstgenoemde instelling. Voorts benoemde de gemeenteraad hem tot lid van de commissie van toezicht op het middelbaar onderwijs en van tal van instellingen op maatschappelijk gebied was hij de rechtsgeleerde raadsman.
      Het is ons bekend, dat vele onzer plaatsgenooten, die in zwarigheden zaten, gerustgesteld het kantoor van mr. Korver verlieten, wanneer ze eens met hem "gepraat" hadden, ook al kon geen betaling voor het advies volgen.
      Het heeft den jubilaris op den 2den November niet aan belangstelling ontbroken.
