Omdat de vader van Lammetje zijn toestemming voor het huwelijk weigerde, moest de tussenkomst van de kantonrechter te Haarlem worden ingeroepen. Jacob Mur verscheen daar overigens niet ter zitting.

Op een gegeven moment was Gerrit verdwenen. Zijn fiets werd gevonden bij de Drecht. Men dacht dat hij was verdronken. Dreggen leverde niets op. Later bleek dat hij naar Frankrijk was vertrokken. Gevlucht om de gevolgen van een naderend faillisement te ontlopen. Zijn vrouw en dochter zijn hem later nagereisd. Zij hebben daar een primitieve boerderij (zonder stromend water) gehad in Normandië. Uiteindelijk is hij op een vreemde wijze (zeldmoord?) omgekomen.
