    Bijzonderheden betreffende Jacobus S.: Hij kwam op 02-10-1864 uit Zwolle en vertrok op 25-04-1865 naar Rotterdam, vandaar via Amsterdam naar Nederlands- Indie als officier van gezondheid in het Ned. Ind. leger. Zijn eerste standplaats was een "benteng"(Fort, vesting) te Segiri in midden Celebes. Hij huwde in Makasser mej. Moraux die hem drie zoons schonk. Deze echtgenote ontviel hem zeer spoedig na de geboorte en overlijden van hun jongste zoon. De drie zoons werden naar Holland gezonden, waar zij verder werden opgevoed door zijn zuster, mevrouw Van Andel- van Bleyswijk Sombeek, Riouwstraat in Den Haag.
    De laatste functie van Jac. Sombeek was hoofd van het militair hospitaal " Simpang" te Soerabaja.
