RENKUM/OOSTERBEEK - Roelof Mons stapt op bij GemeenteBelangen. Hij kan zich niet verenigen met de vierde plaats op de kandidatenlijst, die lijsttrekkerHermine van den Berg voor hem in petto had. Woensdagavond wordt deze lijst tijdens de ledenvergadering vastgesteld.

Mons: "Ze hebben Arjen Knulst op twee gezet. Dat accepteer ik niet. Hij heeft als steunfractielid acht jaar lang niks gedaan, omdat hij nooit tijdhad. Als Hermine meer vertrouwen in hem heeft dan in mij, dan ben ik het vertrouwen in de partij kwijt."

Mons is tien jaar verbonden aan GemeenteBelangen. Eerst twee jaar buiten de raad, vervolgens vier jaar als raadslid en de laatste vier jaar als steunfractielid.Hij is 'gruwelijk teleurgesteld'. "Het is een van mijn mooiste hobby's. Ik had graag nog een periode meegedaan. Maar het gaat mij om het principe.Het is voor mij absoluut onacceptabel dat iemand die nooit iets gepresteerd heeft, boven mij op de lijst komt te staan."

Lijstrekker Van den Berg betreurt het besluit van Mons. "Roelof wil rechten ontlenen aan het verleden. Maar wij willen een frisse wind. De naam GemeenteBelangenis hetzelfde, maar de inhoud is anders. We hadden Roelof graag mee willen hebben. Hij heeft kwaliteiten en ervaring."

Mons blijft nog aan tot de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen in maart.
