Notes about Antje "Antje" Makelaar

Na het overlijden van Adriaan op 4 oktober 1929 bleef de weduwe Antje Molenaar-Makelaar (1890-1960) met haar drie kinderen achter. Met dit somber beeld voor ogen besloot zij haar assortiment artikelen geleidelijk uit te breiden tot verpakte kruidenierswaren en tabak. Ook voor snoepgoed, dat na 1951 een belangrijk deel van de omzet werd, kon men bij Molenaar terecht. Vooral duimdrop, zwart-wit, zoethout, veterdrop en toverballen waren bij de jeugd gewild. Gedurende de bezettingstijd werd de ontruimde winkel dicht gespijkerd en evacueerde zij naar Anna Paulowna en later naar Winkel.
