Notes about William Pridmore

MARRIAGE: William married as a bachelor and labourer of Kotupna, Vic. to

Evangelina McLennan, nee Green, widow of Kotupna, within No. 448 Queen St.

(eastern side, between Therry and Franklin Streets), Melbourne, Vic.

DEATH: William died on the levee bank of the Goulburn River, near his

residence, Kotupna, Vic. Described as a labourer, aged 56 years. Cause of

death-- "died suddenly. An enquiry was held at Kotupna on the 27th July 1916

by H.J. Lapthorne, J.P., who found death was caused by fatty degeneration of

heart, and syncope".

Comments by "The Nathalia Herald" -- "On Wednesday evening last [26 July 1916]

occurred the sudden death of Mr. William Pridmore, one of the oldest residents

of the district. Stepping outside to go to the river, he was away

considerably longer than anticipated. His wife, Evangelina, went to ascertain

the cause of the delay, and found him lying dead on the far side of the levee

bank. From the position of the body, the deceased must have collapsed just as

he attained the summit of the bank. Mr. Lapthorne, J.P., held an enquiry, and

found that the death was due to heart failure. Deceased, who was 55 years of

age [sic], leaves a widow and family of three. On Friday, a large number of

people followed his remains to the Nathalia Cemetery, where the Rev. A.

Hambly, M.A., conducted the service. Great sympathy is felt for Mrs. Pridmore

and family.

BURIAL: William was buried in Grave 23, Division III, Portion A, Old Methodist

Area, General Cemetery of Nathalia, Vic.

William may have had temple work performed twice. Felicity has entered: 5 Feb

1954 baptism; 24 Jun 1955 endowment; 12 Nov 1955 seal to parents (St. George

temple for sealing to parents only).
