Geslaagden aan de vlasschool te Standdaarbuiten september 1943 in net kleine maar gezellige leslokaal van de beroepschool voor vlas--
werkers te Standdaarbuiten had voor de tweede maal de diploma-uitreiking plaats. Ditmaal aan een zeventiental geslaagden.
Nadat de voorzitter, de heer C. v. Rooy, de bijeenkomst had geopend, was het woord aan ir. de Jonghe, directeur van de school. Deze maakte
met vreugde gewag van de resultaten van het afgelopen jaar en zeide hierover zeer tevreden te zijn. Hierna werden de diploma’s uitgereikt
aan: 1. J. Knook, Dinteloord; 2. W. Krijnen, Standdaarbuiten, beiden met zeer veel vrucht; 3. P. Veeken, Klundert; 4. C. de jong, Steenber-
gen; 5. A. Koetsenruyter, Pijhaart; 5. J. Reuvers, Klundert;

Standdaarbuiten is ontstaan door het inpolderen van gebied ten noorden van Oudenbosch en de Mark in 1525 / 1526 onder markies Jan III van Bergen op Zoom. In de zuidhoek van deze polder, "Het Oudland van Standdaarbuiten" geheten, kwam het dorp. De inpolderingen waren daarmee niet afgelopen: in 1613 werd het grondgebied uitgebreid met de Mancia-Winterpolder of "Het Nieuwland van Standdaarbuiten", in 1700 met de Prins Hendrikpolder en in 1765 met de ingepolderde schorren langs de Mooie Keene. Sindsdien had de gemeente een oppervlakte van 1338 ha. Zij heeft tot 1795 behoord tot het markiezaat van Bergen op Zoom. Daarna, in het begin van de 19e eeuw, werd zij een gemeente. Vanaf 1997 maakt zij deel uit van de gemeente Moerdijk.

Het dorp heeft een bewogen geschiedenis achter de rug: in en na 1572 plunderden en brandschatten de Watergeuzen het gebied, in 1760 brandde zo goed als het gehele dorp af en tijdens de bevrijding in de Tweede Wereldoorlog werden zowel Standdaarbuiten als Noordhoek vrijwel geheel verwoest. Echter de gemeente kwam er altijd weer bovenop.

Tot het midden van de jaren vijftig van de vorige eeuw was Standdaarbuiten een centrum voor de vlasteelt.
Eerste bestaansgrond was en is de landbouw en veeteelt en daaraan gerelateerde ambachtelijkheid. Vanaf de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw vonden veel mensen werk in de suikerindustrie. Dit duurde tot ongeveer 1920. Toen nam de vlasteelt het over tot ongeveer 1950. Standdaarbuiten was hiervoor het Brabantse centrum. Daarna gingen veel mensen over op de champignonteelt. Ook hierin werd Standdaarbuiten het belangrijkste gebied voor West-Brabant. Ondertussen nam ook de functie van woonkern toe. Door betere verbindingen werd de streek ontsloten.
