Er waren twee neven die in het noorden van ons land zeer bekend waren; Machiel Wolters en Machiel Hendriks. Eén van hen, het is Historisch Emmen niet bekend wie, stond in Drenthe bekend als Mechiel de Scherenslieper.
Hij was een bekende bemiddelaar als het om afspraakjes tussen jongens en meisjes ging!
De families Wolters en Hendriks (soms ook wel Hindriks) die op het woonwagencentrum de Ark in Emmen wonen stammen af van deze families!
