Net als Thijs en Antje Hulshof-Kalsbeek die in de crisisjaren naar Limburg gingen om te gaan werken in de Limburgse steenkoolmijnen heeft ook oudere broer Willem het Bourgondische Limburg gevonden.
Hij heeft daarnaast met veel plezier het blad Panorama bij zijn klanten rondgebracht. Broer Thijs en schoonzus Lenie waren zijn laatste klanten op zijn route want… daar zat een (of meer) kop (pen) koffie aan vast en…. de tijd tikte maar door! Hij was een humoristische man.
